What SATOpen collects, why, where it is stored and the choices you have.

Who we are
SATOpen is a free Digital SAT preparation service operated by SATOpen. You can reach us through the contact form.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, display name, profile photo (the one from your Google account, or a photo you upload in Settings), sign-in method and whether your email is verified.
- Learning data — your target score, license acceptance, diagnostic and practice answers, time spent per question, skill mastery, lessons completed, saved vocabulary and mock test results.
- Messages you send us — the name, email address and message you submit through the contact form, and any replies from the SATOpen team.
- Notifications — messages shown in your account, such as replies to your feedback, and whether you have read them.
- Usage data (only if you allow analytics) — the pages you visit on SATOpen and the device, browser and approximate location information that Google Analytics collects. Analytics is off until you allow it on the cookie banner or the Cookie Preferences page.
- Security data — to prevent abuse we keep short-lived request counters and a one-way (hashed) version of your IP address; we do not store your raw IP address with your messages.
How we use it
- To run your account and show your own progress, dashboard and results.
- To choose practice questions and recommend what to study next.
- To write the AI study analysis of a submitted mock test, when this feature is turned on. The analysis is written by Google's Gemini API from learning statistics only (scores, skills, accuracy and recent results); your name, email address and account ID are never sent. Scores always come from SATOpen, not the AI.
- To answer your messages and improve SATOpen content.
- To keep SATOpen secure and prevent spam or misuse.
Where your data is stored
Account and learning data, uploaded profile photos and contact form messages are stored securely by SATOpen and its service providers. Contact form messages are read and answered by the SATOpen team. If you were signed in when you wrote to us, our reply appears in your account notifications and is not sent by email; otherwise we may reply to the email address you gave.
What we never do
SATOpen does not show ads or sell personal information, and it does not use Google signals or ad personalization. Analytics cookies are used only if you allow them.
Third-party services
- Google — sign-in with Google, and the Gemini API for AI study analyses when that feature is turned on.
- Google Analytics — counts page views, only if you allow analytics. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a bot check that may appear on the contact form.
- Desmos — the graphing calculator loads from desmos.com when you open it.
- Buy Me a Coffee — only if you choose to follow the donation link.
Retention and deletion
We keep your learning data while your account exists. You can delete your account in Settings; this removes your SATOpen learning data, uploaded profile photo, notifications and your sign-in account. Removing or replacing an uploaded photo deletes the old one. Messages sent through the contact form, and our replies, are kept as long as needed to respond and resolve them.
Students under 18
SATOpen is intended for students aged 13 and older. If the law where you live requires parental consent for online services, please use SATOpen with a parent's or guardian's permission. Parents can ask us to delete a student's account through the contact form.
Your choices
You can update your name, profile photo and target score in Settings, manage optional storage on the Cookie Preferences page, and request access to or correction of your data through the contact form.
